Our process of making our natural foaming hand soap is as simple as the ingredients it contains. Let us show you how we do it!
Our soap foam is not a result of any ingredient(s) we add to our soap. Foaming soap dispensers simply mix air into our soap to produce soap foam.
Step 1 - Add Organic Vegetable Oils
The first step in our production process involves weighing specific amounts of each of our Organic Vegetable Oils (Coconut, Olive, Castor and Jojoba) and pouring them into our heated tank.
Step 2 - Add Tocopherol (Vitamin E)
We add Tocopherol (Vitamin E) as a natural method to delay oxidation of the oils which extends our soap's shelf life.
Step 3 - Add Water & Potassium Hydroxide
The oils are heated and once they reach a temperature of 150 °F we add a mixture of Purified Water and Potassium Hydroxide (Lye) flakes to the hot oils. The oils, water and potassium hydroxide are then stirred until they combine to form a paste.
Step 4 - Cook Paste
The paste produced during the previous step is then cooked.
Step 5 - Add Water
Once the paste has been fully cooked, we add purified water in order to dilute the paste, producing liquid soap.
Step 6 - Add Water & Citric Acid
In order to reduce the pH of the soap at this stage, we add a mixture of Purifed Water and Citric Acid. Once this stage is complete, no Potassium Hydroxide (Lye) remains in our soap as it is neutralized by the water & citric acid solution.
Step 7 - Add Vegetable Glycerin
We then add Vegetable Glycerin which helps to produce liquid soap that is less drying to your hands.
Step 8 - Add Essential Oils
At this final stage of production we add our Essential Oils to produce our Lavender, Lemongrass and Tea Tree scented foaming hand soap. In the case of our Unscented hand soap, we leave the soap as is without adding any essential oils to it. This final mixture of all of the ingredients is stirred thoroughly to produce the final product!
